I was fighting breast cancer and multiple complications from 17 surgeries and surgical complications. I can cheerfully say the past few years has taught me more than most people would ever want to know about a chronic illness. My family and friends have been extremely supportive and helpful during my past illness. My grandchildren are delightful, and I spend time with them often as possible. My partner, Mary, and I travel, enjoy camping, season tickets for the Detroit Shock, reading, working around our home, photography, woodcarving, visiting family and friends., and just enjoying life to the fullest! I am very active with the St. Joesph Mercy-Oakland Breast Cancer Support Group and am the editor of their newsletter, The Pink Ribbon Press. pink ribbon Diane HolcombI give back to the cancer community by teaching photography at Gilda’s Club-Metro Detroit in Royal Oak. And, I help raise funds for  Gilda’s Club, along with participating in the American Center Society’s Relay for Life every year. I have also spent some time lecturing about my cancer experience, and do numerous workshops every year for cancer survivors. Most importantly, I thank God for letting me give back some of what I have learned in the past few years.”
